space apachesSpace Apaches describe themselves as “kinda like a psychedelic Eagles, with a sense of humor”. Straight off the bat, this tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the Apaches. They’re fun-lovin’, guitar-totin’, All-American rockers who are serious about their music, but don’t take themselves too seriously.

Based in North Carolina, the Space Apaches are drummer Jim Arrendell, bassist Rob Geisler, multi-instrumentalist Aaron Price and guitarists Tom Leiner and Andrew Reed. Reed produces the band as well, being an experienced professional in his own right (last year he produced An Acoustic Christmas by Daves Highway, which peaked at #5 on the Billboard chart) and he very much favours an old-school, organic approach to studio work. No gizmos or autotuners here, thanks very much - just good ol’-fashioned, meticulously crafted rock ’n’ roll.

Fans of the Eagles, Aerosmith and Tom Petty will find much to enjoy in the Space Apaches’ spaced-out, guitar-led, upbeat country-rock vibe, and there are plenty of solos and string-twiddling for the musos amongst you. The band also have a reputation as a fierce live act (their biography reveals that “a Space Apaches live performance event is an EVENT!”) so if you happen to be swinging by Asheville, North Carolina, keep your eyes peeled for a nearby show.

Their new album, Smokin' Voyages, is released in November.
