Kimia Penton has travelled an unusual path in life. Born in the Middle East, she was raised in London and now lives in Dallas, where she performs regularly in acoustic venues, clubs and coffee houses. With such a rich, meandering heritage, a career in the arts was arguably always on the cards.
Kimia raises comparisons with such solo artists as Norah Jones, Sade and Alison Krauss, but boasts a character very much of her own. A firm believer in the restorative power of human affection, Kimia’s latest release Lessons From Life And Love explores the importance of inner peace, and aims to take the listener on a complex emotional journey. Of course, it’s unsurprising that Kimia is drawn to the inner workings of the human psyche - alongside her work as a musician, she’s also a practising psychologist.
Effortlessly fusing jazz, pop and world music (middle eastern melodies in particular), Kimia weaves together haunting arrangements, rich sonic textures and poignant lyrics into a potent but mellow sound that has been delighting live audiences for many years. She has a loyal fanbase, too, having amassed nearly 25,000 likes on Facebook. Find out more at the link below.
